Every one of us is shaped by our upbringing and our experiences. My conservative values can be traced back to my faith, family, and small town roots. Then, through my days attending Hillsdale College, raising my own family, operating and starting businesses, and entering public service at the state and local level. Many Hoosiers share these common sense values. They are ready for leadership that fights for what actually works to improve lives. No rhetoric. Just Real. Results.
Ideas, solutions, and excitement for Indiana’s future define my campaign for governor and my passion for this state. We cannot sit still and rest on our reputation. Despite the success Indiana has enjoyed over the last two decades, the opportunities of the American dream remain out of reach for many of our counties and regions. But whether it’s in small towns like those where I grew up, previously booming industrial regions, or neglected cities, it remains true that Indiana’s people are its greatest asset and worthy of leadership that takes on their unique challenges.
I have had a front row seat to what strong leadership can do. In 2013, then-Governor Mike Pence asked me to take a break from my business to lead Indiana’s job creation efforts. As the president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, I sought to provide the vision required to tackle one of Indiana’s biggest challenges–-drastic population stagnation and loss. Those efforts led to the passage of the Regional Cities Initiative, which has produced dramatic returns. I have a record of bringing an authentic, bold, no-nonsense approach to solving problems and helping people.
As Governor, we will bring a fresh perspective and new generation of transformational leadership to our state. We will fix our broken health care system by increasing competition and transparency. We will ensure our children receive a high school education and diploma that prepares them for success in the workplace. We will protect the vulnerable, and the officers of the law who protect all of us. We will create a level playing field for communities large and small. We will ensure all government agencies are efficiently and effectively serving the people. And we will defend the conservative, Hoosier values that make our state strong.
I look forward to visiting with you and about our bold plan to make Indiana even better.
