Eric Doden Announces Capital Zone Plan, New Vision for Downtown Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS – Today, Eric Doden announced a plan to revitalize and secure Downtown Indianapolis by making city-wide public safety reforms and creating a state-operated Capital Zone to take responsibility for infrastructure in Indianapolis’ Mile Square core.
“With the right vision and leadership, Indianapolis should be thriving with a rebuilt downtown, world-class infrastructure, safe streets, and a vibrant future,” Eric Doden, businessman and Republican candidate for Governor, said. “Right now, that’s simply not the case. Our capital city needs a major course correction to fix its crumbling streets and widespread crime.”
For too long, Indianapolis residents have been without two basic public services – public safety and infrastructure – in the city’s core. Eric’s Indianapolis Capital Zone plan will:
- Fix Downtown Indianapolis’ crumbling roads by establishing state responsibility for infrastructure within Mile Square, including planning, payment, construction, and maintenance for roads, bridges, sidewalks, and trails.
- Remove violent criminals from the streets and support our law enforcement officers by establishing a prosecutor review board composed of elected prosecuting attorneys to create a system of accountability for rogue prosecutors.
- Establish a strong partnership between the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indiana State Police, putting more boots on the ground to secure downtown Indianapolis while making the entire city safer.
“All Hoosiers depend in one way or another on the success of Indianapolis, our state’s capital and economic engine,” Doden said. “Our plan will set the table for securing and revitalizing downtown Indianapolis as our state’s centerpiece.”
